The Metropolitan Sports Facilities Commission will hear an evaluation from engineers about the condition of the Metrodome’s collapsed roof on Thursday.
According to the Star Tribune, the engineers will recommend to the commission that a new roof will be needed instead of repairing the damaged roof.
It is estimated that the cost of a new roof will cost $18 million.
The Metropolitan Sports Facilities CommissionâÄôs insurance will cover the cost for the replacement roof.
The condition of the Metrodome roof, which collapsed under the force of a blizzard in early December, has forced the Minnesota Vikings and the Gopher Baseball team to play in other revenues.
The goal is to have the Metrodome repaired by August, in time for the start of the Vikings football season, but the University of Minnesota has said they are open to the option of hosting Vikings football games at TCF Stadium.
