Percy Harvin requests trade from Vikings

It's a rare sight for the Minnesota Vikings, but when they finally have a star wide receiver, they seem to have trouble keeping him happy.

Percy Harvin, arguably the best receiver Minnesota has seen since Randy Moss, requested a trade Wednesday. He had expressed frustration with the organization Tuesday at the Vikings' first day of mandatory minicamp.

"I just put it this way: There's a lot of different things that have to be sorted out," Harvin said Tuesday. "Just haven't been really happy lately. We've got a couple things to work on. I'm here in the classroom. We'll go from there."

The Associated Press first reported the trade request Wednesday. Vikings coach Leslie Frazier said he didn't think the situation was heading in that direction.

"I really feel like when he and I sit down and talk in depth, whatever is in his heart or on his mind, we'll get through it," Frazier said Tuesday.

Harvin, 24, was the Vikings' first-round draft pick in 2009 and has been one of the central pieces to the team's rebuilding project along with running back Adrian Peterson, who is recovering from a torn ACL, and second-year quarterback Christian Ponder. The Vikings have finished last place in the NFC North division in back-to-back years.

Heading into his fourth year in the NFL, Harvin is set to make $915,000 this year with the Vikings and has two seasons remaining on his rookie contract. Last season, he posted career-highs in receptions (87) and receiving yards (967), both of which led the team. He was the team's third-leading rusher with 345 yards and an average of 6.6 yards per carry.

Harvin has battled migraine headaches his entire career and is coming off of shoulder surgery this offseason, but he has been one of the more consistent Vikings players on Sundays. Harvin played in all 16 games last season while also fighting through a rib injury.
