Elmo, as a young child of the suburbs, one day decided to live the life of a transient. “Gosh,” said Elmo, “I know that I am a member of a somewhat privileged sector of society, but I sure would like to be homeless. There’s this weird feeling I get when I walk by disfranchised members of society — I think it’s called guilt. I feel even worse on a days like today when there’s a chance of rain, with lows in the upper 40s and highs in the middle 50s. Or on days like tomorrow, when there’s a chance of showers early, with lows in the middle 30s and a high near 50. Maybe I’ll wait until it’s nice out before I go downtown and beg for change.”
