The No. 3 ranked Gophers wrestling team (5-2, 2-0 Big Ten) won the first six matches of Sunday’s dual against Ohio State at the Sports Pavilion and held on to defeat the Buckeyes 24-13.
The highlight of the match came at 133 pounds when Chris Dardanes defeated second-ranked Logan Stieber. Dardanes recorded a takedown in the final seconds of the match to earn the 5-3 victory.
Wrestling started at 174 pounds and the Gophers used consecutive victories by Logan Storey (174), Kevin Steinhaus (184), Sonny Yohn (197), Tony Nelson (Heavyweight), Zach Sanders (125) and Chris Dardanes to build a 21-0 lead.
Sanders improved his season record to 17-0 and is currently the top-ranked wrestler at 125 pounds.
Minnesota will have two road duals next weekend, facing off against Illinois on Friday and Purdue on Sunday.
