Sarinee Thitiratanakorn carded the third-lowest individual 54-hole score in Gophers women’s golf history as the team finished seventh at the Central District Invitational on Tuesday in Lakewood Ranch, Fla.

Minnesota scored the third-lowest 54-hole total in program history, an 11-over par 875. It scored a 4-under par 284, the second-best 18-hole round in program history, Monday morning.

“Everybody was really confident, and I think that helped in our first round,” head coach Michele Redman said. “Everybody gave me 100 percent, and it’s exciting to see improvement.”

Thitiratanakorn shot a 2-under par 214, including a career-best 3-under par 69 in the opening round. The junior from Thailand finished tied for 13th in the 80-player field.

“She’s starting to putt better, and she’s hitting the ball great,” Redman said. “Everything’s just clicking for her right now.”

Gophers junior Carmen Laguna finished tied for 24th at 2-over par and birdied two of her final six holes. Minnesota junior Anna Laorr scored three rounds of 73 and finished tied for 25th.

Gophers senior Banchalee Theinthong carded a 10-over par 226 and finished tied for 50th, while freshman Emie Peronnin finished 56th at 12-over par.

Vanderbilt won the 13-team tournament with a 20-under par 844. The Commodores’ Simin Feng tied for the low score along with Michigan State’s Allyssa Ferrell at 9-under par.

The Gophers will continue their spring season March 17-18 at the BYU Entrada Classic in St. George, Utah.
