After the college of St. Catherine declined to have former U.S. Treasurer Bay Buchanan speak on its campus in a âÄútea and conversationâÄù series today, the Republican political pundit will speak at Coffman Union tonight. The CNN commentator who served under President Reagan as the youngest U.S. Treasurer ever will speak about feminism and this electionâÄôs importance to women in a program organized by the Minnesota Association of Scholars. An outspoken supporter of the McCain/Palin ticket, Buchanan will speak from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Coffman Union Theater. Admission is free for students with IDs, and $10 for everyone else. Offers from Democrats Sen. Hillary Clinton and Senate candidate Al Franken to appear at St. KateâÄôs were also reportedly declined, administrators say, because they wish to keep campus free of political partisanship prior to Nov. 4, Election Day.
