Empty rhetoric

Minnesota Student Association presidential and vice presidential candidates Lizzy Shay and Colin Burke have said that they want to âÄútake back student government.âÄù Anyone already familiar with MSA and the elections taking place until 8 p.m., today, would know what a ridiculous statement that is.
For those who arenâÄôt yet familiar, Shay is chief of staff to current MSA President Sarah Shook. Shay is effectively the candidate of the administration and has in fact been endorsed by Shook. Not a surprise there, but it causes me to wonder who Shay and Burke want to take student government back from. As far as IâÄôm concerned, this statement is just empty campaign rhetoric. I encourage you to vote today at acecvote.umn.edu.
