Gophers men’s basketball star Trevor Mbakwe pleaded guilty Monday to violating a harassment restraining order in January.
Ramsey County Judge Judith Tilsen sentenced Mbakwe to one year of probation and one day in jail. He served the latter when he was arrested in January.
Tilsen also ordered Mbakwe to cease contact with the victim — his ex-girlfriend — and complete domestic abuse counseling.
In January, Mbakwe sent a Facebook message to the ex-girlfriend, who had obtained a restraining order against Mbakwe in 2009. He apologized for sending the message a day later but pleaded not guilty later that month.
