Off to a slow start, the Gophers women’s basketball team trails Michigan 28-20 at halftime on Sunday.
At least in the first half, Minnesota could not carry over its momentum from a huge victory over Ohio State on Thursday.
Bad passing and shooting just 25 percent from beyond the arc has kept the Gophers offense at bay, while missed assignments on defensive rebounds and Michigan hitting 55 percent of its three-point attempts has put Minnesota down eight at halftime.
Ashley Ellis-Milan and Emily Fox both lead the Gophers in scoring with four points a piece, while the Wolverines Carly Benson put up eight points in the first half to lead Michigan in scoring.
If Minnesota can get out and defend the Wolverines three-point shooters, while hitting a few long-range shots of their own, the Gophers should be able climb back into this game.
