Night baseball is coming to the University of Minnesota. Gophers head coach John Anderson and Robert Ballintine, the executive director of the Foundation for Minnesota Baseball, announced Friday in a release that light installation has begun at Siebert Field.
"We are excited to play baseball at night this season, and to share this opportunity with other teams in the state. The vision has always been to make Siebert Field the center of amateur baseball. The addition of lights will provide more chances for young baseball players to use the park," Anderson said in the release.
Light installation began Friday. The Gophers begin their season Feb. 14, but they don't play their first home game until March 26.
