A man’s body was found hanging from a tree with his hands tied behind his back Monday near the Mississippi River, according to a Minneapolis police press release.
The body was found near the intersection of Franklin Avenue Southeast and East River Road.
The body was discovered by someone walking on a nearby path. The person, who has not been identified, called police from a pay phone to report the body.
Police were still collecting evidence at the scene Monday afternoon.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office said the man’s identity and the cause of death will not be released until his family has been notified.
