Assistant hockey coach Mike Hastings has resigned his position at Minnesota to accept an associate head coach position at the University of Nebraska-Omaha.
Hastings worked with the Gopher hockey program for one year, and will now be assisting the new head coach of the Mavericks in Omaha, Dean Blais.
According to Gopher Sports, Minnesota head coach Don Lucia said: “Dean (Blais) told Mike that whoever takes this position will have a great chance to replace him down the line. I enjoyed my year with Mike and wish him the best.”
Grant Potulny, former Gopher captain, will be taking over as interim assistant coach while the Gophers complete a national search to replace Hastings. Potulny had been serving as a volunteer assistant for the team earlier this summer and played as a forward for the Gophers while in college.
