A man was stabbed in the Marcy-Holmes neighborhood early Sunday evening, authorities said.
According to a statement from the Minneapolis Police Department, officers responded to a report that a man had been stabbed in the street near 5th Street Southeast and 2nd Avenue Southeast. The officers found a victim with life-threatening stab wounds, and he was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center.
The suspect, wearing dark jeans and a blue jacket, fled the area in a tan-colored SUV. He is described as a black man with a muscular build and bald head, standing between 5-feet-10-inches and 6-feet tall, the statement read.
The incident comes a few weeks after a safety meeting attended by MPD and City officials was held by residents of the neighborhood Feb. 28 to address a string of violent crimes in the area, including a double homicide Feb. 10 and the attempted sexual assault of a University of Minnesota student Feb. 8.
MPD is investigating the incident and encourage anyone with information to call MPD’s tip line at 612-692-8477.
