All-American Hassan Mead was named the USTFCCCA Midwest Region Athlete of the Year on Wednesday. Mead won the NCAA Midwest Regional title on Nov. 12 in DeKalb, Ill.
He finished the 10K course with a time of 31 minutes, 16 seconds. It marked the third time in his career Mead has won the NCAA Midwest Regional.
Mead has led the Gophers all season. He finished third at the Roy Griak Invitational on Sept. 24 and fifth at the Big Ten meet on Oct. 30. He will lead Minnesota at the NCAA Cross Country Championships on Monday, Nov. 21, in Terre Haute, Ind.
This is the third time Mead has received this accolade in his career.
