Friday: Standing Rock Benefit version 2.0
This is another fundraising effort for those who are protesting the Dakota Access Pipeline. Entry is donation-based — anything from $5 to $10 is accepted.
YONI YUM — one of the best local music acts — will play at the event.

Saturday: Tony Peachka Release Show with Half Tramp, the Florists and Daisy Chains
Tony Peachka is the hottest band in Minneapolis right now — blurring the line between punk rock and twee, their debut record is sure to make a lot of local “best of” lists this year.
Untapped balladeer Half Tramp will kick off the show, punk rock trio the Florists will play second and power trio and elder statesmen Daisy Chains will round out the set.

Sunday: DEAR GAZA 2016
This is an annual event aimed at raising money for the ongoing plight on the Gaza strip.
Music, art and food will be at the center of the all-day block party. Local acts like Tarik will debut and others such as Ayvah will bring their already popular sets to the stage.. Last year, the event raised $20,000 for the cause. Come out and help them make it more this year.

CULTURE TO CONSUME
Watch this: “Snowden”
This film is clunky and overly sentimental, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt playing Edward Snowden is just downright funny. That being said, the film does an excellent job of discussing how Snowden was able to release the details of the NSA surveillance conspiracy. Director Oliver Stone always knows how to sculpt information in an approachable way.

Bon Iver’s long-awaited record is pretty incredible. Everyone knows the Midwestern singer-songwriter is one of the best record-makers this side of the millennia, but this new record seeks to expand the boundaries. Choice cuts include: “29 #Strafford APTS” and “33 ‘GOD.’”
Watch this: New season of “Empire”
“Empire” is a must-watch. It’s decidedly decadent and purposefully over the top, all while adapting King Lear for the small screen in the most dramatic way possible. Last season left off with a cliff-hanger, so this season starts off with a boom.
