Saturday

Event: Screening of Animal Collecitve’s “ODDSAC.” – The experimental breakout band have been working with director Danny Perez for the last four years, and here is the psychedelic video goo they have gleaned. If you like their latest music videos, you’ll probably like this, because Perez has been narrating their sound with his dark, psychedelic images on many of their recent hits, like “Summertime Clothes.” Various members of Animal Collective are supposed to be there, but no guarantees as to who.

When: 7 p.m., 9 p.m.
Tickets: $15

Band: Vampire Hands — Although their singer Colin Johnson is now officially part-time, the eclectic rock group is still trucking on. Probably because they’re a Twin Cities’ fave, and the masses know they have more music to make before letting Solid Gold become the face of our local music scene.
Openers: Angie Oase, Dreamland Faces
Where: Hexagon Bar, 2600 27th Ave. S.
When: 10 p.m.

Art — “Gender” at Altered Esthetics

This exhibit focuses on the two main schools of thought in gender. The anti-gender school rejects using gender as a form of self-identification, while the opposing position seeks to explore the symbols that make each gender unique. But enough with these words! Check out their visual interpretations and form your own.
Altered Esthetics, 1224 Quincy St. N.E., Mpls.

Art — “Hit Like a Girl” at the Pink Hobo

Speaking of gender, the Pink Hobo has its own take on the matter, specifically on feminism. 20 artists were asked to represent what “hitting like a girl” meant to them. Hope somebody drew Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Proceeds go to to Foundation IX.

Pink Hobo Geek Art Gallery, 507 Hennepin Ave. E.

Art — Adam Turmanat Frame Ups

Everyone’s favorite local bike-babe-bridge artist Adam Turman’s works are on display at FrameUps gallery on Nicollet.

FrameUps, 4325 Nicollet Ave. S., Mpls.

Theater — “Welcome to Distopia” at The Bedlam Theater

Ever wish you could relive tenth grade and be equally shocked and captivated by “1984” and “Brave New World?” Well, The Four Humors Theatre have brought a new dystopian story round for your viewing pleasure. “Die at the End-a-torium,” their description reads, “But above all else … Thank the person in charge.”

The Bedlam Theater, 1501 6th St. S.
