Closer Scott Matyas has signed a minor league deal with the Detroit Tigers, becoming the fourth Gopher from this year’s draft class to sign a contract.
In his time at Minnesota, Matyas set the conference save record, recording 36 saves, and made the most career appearances in Gophers history with 96.
He was previously drafted by the New York Yankees in 2009 (29th round) and the Milwaukee Brewers in 2010 (40th round).
Terms of the contract have yet to be disclosed.
