Minnesota is in ninth place in team standings out of eleven after the first day of the Minnesota Invitational held at the Minikahda Club in Minneapolis.
Junior Heather Ciskowski finished the day in an impressive four-way tie for first place after two rounds. She shot scores of 74 and 69 in rounds one and two respectively to end the day with a total of 143, one under par.
Sophomore Muyu Wu is currently tied for 22nd place and finished the first day six strokes over par.
The Gophers shot a first round score of 306 and a second round of 294 to finish the day at 600, 24 over par. The Gophers are only ten strokes over the current tournament frontrunner, Texas.
Ciskowski and the Gophers will resume play tomorrow in their first meet of the season and look for a strong start through a tournament win in the fourth annual event.
