Midnight Madness set for Friday

The Minnesota men’s basketball team will start its season Friday with Midnight Madness.
Doors open at 10 p.m. DJ Jazzy Jeff, Big Daddy Kane and Biz Markie will perform from 11:15 to 11:45. There will be a number of interactive contests for fans to win cash and prizes.
One fan will have a half-court shot for an opportunity at a $10,000 scholarship.
At midnight, the 1999-2000 Gophers will take the floor. There will be a warm up exhibition, a dunk show and a scrimmage.
It will be the first chance for fans to get a look at the Gophers, headed by coach Dan Monson. This year’s captains are Kyle Sanden and B.J. Bickerstaff.
Minnesota’s first game will be Nov. 10 at 7 p.m. against a team to be announced.
