The Minnesota baseball team could only manage to pull off one win in its three game series with Florida Atlantic this weekend.
The Gophers (3-3) won the sandwich game with a 6-2 victory over Owls in Boca Raton. Florida Atlantic (7-3) took both ends of the series, winning the first 9-4 and the last 7-6.
Minnesota senior pitcher Kelly Werner got the lone win for the Gophers. Outfielder Jason Kennedy was the leading bat in the Minnesota lineup — the sophomore collected 5 RBI in the series.
Junior shortstop Rick Brosseau knocked in three more runs for Minnesota.
Senior Chadd Clarey and junior Kurt Haring took the two loses on the mound for Minnesota.
The Gophers hit the road again next weekend, as they head to Lake Charles, Louisiana, for a three game set with McNesse State.
Minnesota doesn’t return home until March 3, when the Gophers host the Hormel Classic at the Metrodome.
