Mother Nature decided baseball was not to be played in Ann Arbor, Mich. this weekend.
The Minnesota baseball team had its entire four game series canceled due to poor weather. This is the sixth game in a row the Gophers have had to postpone or cancel after a rainout last Sunday at Penn State and a postponement of Minnesota’s Siebert Field opener against North Dakota State on Wednesday.
The Gophers’ next attempt to get a game in will come Wednesday when they head to Northern Iowa for an afternoon, midweek contest.
Softball also canceled
The Minnesota softball team’s home opener was canceled this weekend due to poor field conditions.
Officials hoped the conditions would improve, but with soft turf in some areas and frozen turf in others, they decided to cancel the Sunday doubleheader against Illinois shortly before the first pitch.
This weekend’s cancellations means Minnesota has missed six straight games due to field and weather problems.
The Gophers are now schedule host their home opener against Purdue on Friday, April 13.
