The Board of Regents got its first peek at the names of potential successors to University President Nils Hasselmo on Wednesday.
Three names were forwarded to the board by the 11-member advisory search committee, but the names are not expected to be made public until early next month. The names will be kept private until regents declare them finalists. Currently, they are only considered recommendations.
Board of Regents Chairman Tom Reagan, who emphasized the importance of confidentiality, only said, “They look good.”
Interviews will be conducted Dec. 9-13 by various University constituencies including the Faculty Consultative Committee, the Alumni Association and the University of Minnesota Foundation.
A new president may or may not come from the advisory committee’s three recommendations. Regents will continue to accept nominations until a president is named.
