The Gopher women’s soccer team fell 2-0 to Penn State on Friday. The loss was only the Gophers second of the season. The Nittany Lions found the back of the net early in the game, the goal coming from sophomore forward Danielle Toney, her seventh of the season. A goal late in the game from redshirt freshman Megan Gill sealed the game for Penn State. Despite the loss, Minnesota managed to outshoot the Nittany Lions 18-10, but there was no doubt the battle would be hard fought offensively. Both teams rank at the top of the Big Ten in overall goals scored. Senior midfielder Kaitlin Wagner was among Minnesota’s top attackers Friday. She tallied two shots on goal in five shots to help keep the Gophers in the game. The Gophers (14-2-0 Overall, 4-2-0 Big Ten) will now travel to Columbus, Ohio, where they will take on the Ohio State Buckeyes in a noon game Sunday. Penn State (10-6-0, 5-1-0) will play Iowa at home Sunday.
