ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) âÄî A group of Minnesota religious leaders say they’re supporting another push at the state Capitol for a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage in the state. The Minnesota Family Council and various Christian, Jewish and Muslim leaders held a news conference Tuesday, saying they’re also concerned about several pending bills that could allow same-sex marriage in Minnesota. They say those bills show the need to defend current laws that specify marriage as between a man and a woman. Sen. John Marty, a Roseville Democrat who authored a bill to allow same-sex marriage, says he still hopes to get a hearing on the legislation, even if there isn’t time to pass it this year.
