The Gophers earned their best finish of the spring season at the Silverado Showdown, placing sixth out of 18 teams. The team shot an 893 overall in Napa, Calif.
“We still have things to work on, but I’m very proud of the way the girls played and are continuing to improve,” head coach Michele Redman said. “We finished sixth [in], in my opinion, probably the second-most difficult field we played in this year.”
Freshman Muyu Wu and sophomore Heather Ciskowski tied for the lowest score among Minnesota golfers, with each shooting a 222 and tying for 23rd place. The finish was Wu’s best of the season.
“We’ve been working on my swing and my putting,” Wu said. “The things we work on are working.”
Sophomore Sabrine Garrison finished third among Minnesota golfers with a score of 225. Junior Emie Peronnin shot a 229 and freshman Maggie Heggerston finished with a 234.
“I thought [Ciskowski] and [Wu] did a very good job,” Redman said. “We got a really young team, and they just continue to get better.
The more experience they get, the more times they get in this position, the better they’ll handle it, and they’re doing a great job.”
