A matchup between the names Boeheim and Pitino will catch eyes of college basketball fans at the start of the next season.

However, it'll be Richard Pitino, the son of  legendary head coach Rick Pitino, that'll take the floor to coach against the great Jim Boeheim on Nov. 25. 

It was announced Wednesday that the Gophers will take on Syracuse in the the 2013 Maui Invitational. This will be a major test for new head basketball coach Richard Pitino in his first season at the helm.

This is just the second time in program history that Minnesota will square off with Syracuse. The Gophers won 82-75 in the only other matchup between the two teams in the 1990 NCAA Tournament.

The 2013 Maui Invitational will take place from Nov. 25-27.
