University of Minnesota men’s and women’s head swimming and diving coach Kelly Kremer will serve as an assistant coach for the U.S. at the World University Games this summer, the University announced Wednesday.
Kremer will coach a roster of 39 swimmers, including current Gophers swimmers Kyler Van Swol and Derek Toomey and former Gophers swimmer Ashley Steenvoorden.
The Games, which take place every two years, run from July 6-17 in Kazan, Russia.
The head coach of the combined men’s and women’s program since April 2011, Kremer also coached the U.S. at the 2011 Pan American Games in Mexico. He has coached at Minnesota since 1998.
The men’s and women’s teams compete Friday and Saturday in the Big Ten Triple and Quad Duels in Madison, Wis., respectively.
