Elmo led the way as he and his 11 comrades filed into their places. He almost hated to see this moment arrive and his time here come to an end. “Have you reached a verdict, Mr. Foreman?” the judge asked. Elmo stood in the jury box and spoke with the voice of the Law. “We have, Your Honor. We find today’s weather clear with a high in the low 20s. We find that tomorrow will have a high in the upper thirties, with a low of 20 and a chance of light snow.”
The judge thanked all the jurors for their consideration, but Elmo wasn’t listening. He was thinking, Damn. Now I have to go back to work.
