The Gophers defeated Purdue on Friday 1-0 after two overtimes. The winning goal came with 1:16 remaining in the second overtime. Gophers forward Tamara Strahota scored after a corner kick by Lindsey Schwartz landed the ball in front of the Boilermakers net. The Gophers played a strong offensive game, and entered the first overtime leading the Boilmakers in shots on goal 11 to 2. Purdue goaltender Jenny Bradfisch, named Soccer America’s Goalkeeper of the Week this week, kept the game scoreless for more than 100 minutes with several fantastic saves. The Gophers finished the game with 13 shots on goal. Friday’s shutout was Gopher goalkeeper Lindsey Dare’s 11th of the season, tying her with the school record for shutouts. The Gophers will take on the Illini at home in a 1 p.m. game Sunday while the Boilermakers travel to Iowa to take on the Hawkeyes, also at 1 p.m. Illinois fell 1-0 to the Hawkeyes on Friday.
