The University of Minnesota’s athletic department and Gophers volleyball head coach Hugh McCutcheon agreed to a contract extension Wednesday morning.
Full details of the contract are currently unknown, but will be released soon.
“It’s a real privilege to lead this program,” McCutcheon said in a statement to the Minnesota Daily. “I am extremely grateful to have the opportunity to continue our work here.”
McCutcheon, a two-time Olympic medalist and International Volleyball Hall of Fame member has achieved a 108-32 overall record with the Gophers. Since McCutcheon started in 2012, the Gophers reached the NCAA volleyball Final Four in 2015 and 2016 and were crowned Big Ten champions twice.
The Gophers were crowned Big Ten champs this season as they finished the season 27-4 with a nearly perfect 19-1 Big Ten record.
Along with McCutcheon’s extension, the Gophers announced that Matt Houk and Laura Kasey have been promoted from assistant coaches to associate head coaches.
