My wife and I were deeply saddened to learn of the death of Dr. Joseph Warthesen. Although I did not know him personally, my wife had the honor of working with him as an employee for a period of one year in 2001-02 and subsequently becoming a graduate student in food science and nutrition this past year as a result of the experience.

Dr. Warthesen epitomized the academic strengths of the University and was one of its ardent supporters. He was a good man, teacher and leader who always kept the students in mind.
