How much did you spend on textbooks and where did you buy them? First-year student Libby Schoenborn said she didnâÄôt have to spend much on books for fall semester. All in all, she spent $350, she said. Schoenborn found several of her books at Half.com, eBayâÄôs sister site, which allows students to buy books from other users. âÄúI purchased a used book for $100 at the [Coffman Union] bookstore then found the same one on Half.com for only $50,âÄù Schoenborn said. âÄúI will be selling the first one back to the bookstore this week.âÄù In addition to traditional bound books, Schoenborn said sheâÄôs had to purchase several course packets this semester. Fortunately, she was able to test out of English and calculus in high school, so she can cross two sets of books off her list. Schoenborn is currently taking classes in global studies, cultural studies and economics. SheâÄôs also taking Swahili because she said she wants to travel to Kenya someday.
