In the days before the Super Bowl, authorities have seized websites streaming live sporting events and have charged a Michigan man with copyright infringement, Reuters reported.
Yonjo Quiroa faces a single count of criminal copyright infringement for running 9 of the 16 websites shutdown by the United States Department of Homeland Security and remains in federal custody.
Also seized were 219 websites selling counterfeit sports merchandise.
Tom Brady, quarterback for the New England Patriots, admitted to using a streaming website to watch the Super Bowl in Costa Rica during his physical rehabilitation last year.
