A University of Minnesota student was the victim of an attempted robbery Sunday night, according to a crime alert from the University of Minnesota Police Department.
According to the alert, the student was waiting on the Stadium Village light rail station when a man approached him and attempted to take his phone.
The man punched the student and took his phone, but after further resistance, the student was able to recover his phone, the alert said.
The man fled south toward Washington Avenue Southeast and left the victim without any serious injuries.
The crime alert said the suspect has a tattoo in the neck and face area and a piercing in the left ear.
The Metro Transit Police Department is investigating the crime.
The attempted robbery comes on the heels of a robbery on Friday, the third in three weeks.
