The Minnesota football team reached an agreement with St. John’s University to open its first week of fall camp on the St. John’s campus.
The Gophers will begin practice in Collegeville on Aug. 6 with a 4:30 p.m. practice. The team will remain at St. John’s through Aug. 11.
“This will be a wonderful opportunity for our football team to come together as a family,” coach Tim Brewster said. “It also will be a special honor for us to practice where the winningest head coach in college football history resides in the legendary coach John Gagliardi.”
Minnesota begins its 2007 campaign with a matchup against Bowling Green on Sept. 1 at the Metrodome.
Swimmer wins bronze
Former Minnesota swimmer Keri Hehn earned a bronze medal Monday in the 200 breaststroke at the 2007 Pan American Games in Rio de Janerio.
Hehn broke the Pan Am record in the event with a 2:26:72 mark in her preliminary heat. She clocked in at 2:28:20 in the finals, good enough for third and to land her a spot on the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team.
Hehn participated in the Minnesota women’s swimming team from 2001 to 2003. She was a first team All-American during her junior and senior seasons with the Gophers.
