Applications are in and the voting process has begun to select the members of the Student Services Fees Committee for the 2002-03 school year.
The application deadline was last Wednesday, and interviews for the positions could begin as early as this weekend, said Julie Wilcox, Campus Life Administration coordinator and Student Services Fees consultant.
A handful of selectors from various student government organizations – such as the Minnesota Student Association and the Graduate and Professional Student Assembly – will evaluate the candidates and make the final decision on the committee, which should be in place in the next couple of weeks.
The committee fields requests for funding from a variety of University groups such as Boynton Health Service, the recreation center, MSA and The Minnesota Daily.
Groups present their requests for funding to a subcommittee and then to a full committee. Students also have a chance to voice their opinions at open forums during the second semester.
The committee also approved funding for major projects including the renovation of Coffman Union, set to open in January.
