Senior outside hitter Ashley Wittman earned the Big Ten conference's Defensive Player of the Week award Monday.
The Gophers swept Indiana and Purdue last week in straight sets, starting off the conference season 2-0 and improving to 14-1 overall.
Wittman led the Gophers in kills (24), kills per set (4), digs (22) and points (29.5), averaging 3.7 digs and 1.7 blocks per set with a .404 hitting percentage.
This is Wittman's second Big Ten weekly award of her career and first Defensive Player of the Week honor.
The Gophers will be on the road this weekend against Nebraska and Iowa.
