Two days after sweeping St. Cloud State to open the 2008-2009 campaign, the Minnesota men’s hockey team jumped up to No. 6 in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine national poll. The Gophers are also ranked seventh in U.S.College Hockey Online/CBS College Sports poll. Minnesota (2-0-0 overall, 2-0-0 WCHA) was ranked ninth in both polls during the preseason. Colorado College is the No. 1 team in the country, Denver is ranked second, and New Hampshire is third. Minnesota plays all three this season. The Gophers next opponent, Wisconsin, sits at 0-4 and is not ranked in either poll.
