Gophers women’s basketball point guard Rachel Banham has been named Big Ten Freshman of the Week.
Banham scored 18 points in the Gophers’ victory against Air Force along with six rebounds, six assists and four steals. She followed up performance with two good games in the Best Buy Classic that led Minnesota to the tournament victory.
Banham averaged 15.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 3.0 steals during the three-game win streak this week. Banham was able to produce these numbers while shooting over 51 percent.
Banham has played the most minutes of any player this season for Minnesota.
The last Gophers player to win this award was Kionna Kellogg last season.
