Three-star football recruit Keelon Brookins has decommitted from the Gophers and committed to play at Wisconsin, TheBadgerNation reported Wednesday on Twitter.
Brookins, a junior linebacker from Tartan High School, was the Gophers’ first recruit for the Class of 2013, and he still has several months before he must sign a national letter of intent.
Minnesota head coach Jerry Kill secured much of the in-state talent for his first recruiting class — 2012 — including wide receiver Andre McDonald from Hopkins, the state’s top prospect. But recruiting as a whole as suffered in recent years, and the Gophers lag behind most of its rival Big Ten schools in terms of talent.
