Early-morning commuters can now enjoy a break from high parking rates at two University parking ramps.
University parking services announced Thursday they had expanded off-peak hours at the East River Road and Fourth Street ramps.
The East River Road ramp’s levels three, four and five will now accept early parking until 7:45 a.m. for a daily fee of $3.00. The Fourth Street Ramp will expand off-peak hours to 9 a.m. to accommodate later campus commuters.
Off-peak hours vary by location, but typically peak hours are between 7:45 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., when customers are charged hourly.
Cari Hatcher, a public relations representative for Parking and Transportation Services, said the hours were changed to allow customers more opportunity to enjoy off-peak rates .
“We don’t stand to benefit other than pleasing our customers,” Hatcher said, “With the winter traffic and weather this will make things a little easier for people.”
Hatcher also said that she has received positive feedback from commuters about the change, further encouraging parking services to maintain the policy.
