Update: Around 4 p.m. Friday, Elizabeth Mann’s family announced that she was found. “The family would like to extend their gratitude to all who have reached out with prayer, support and assistance both in the US and in India,” read a statement posted on Facebook.  

A 20-year-old University of Minnesota student was reported missing after taking a trip to India by herself. 

Elizabeth Mann was last seen in Anjuna, a small coastal town on India’s western coast. Authorities told The Times of India that Mann arrived on Oct. 24 and was supposed to return to the United States Thursday morning. When hotel staff went to wake Mann for her flight, however, she was nowhere to be found. After investigating, police believe she left the hotel at approximately 5 a.m. 

A Facebook page created to spread information regarding Mann’s condition said the U.S. Embassy, local authorities and Minnesota senators “are working hard to locate her.” On Thursday evening, the page posted an update saying, “Authorities are also investigating a man that has been targeting her. We don’t know if she is on her own, or was taken by this man.”

Mann is described as being 5 feet, 11 inches tall and weighing 135 pounds. She has blonde hair, blue eyes, a nose ring and tattoos of a flower beneath her right arm, a globe on one of her ankles and a serpent on one of her legs.
