The University of Minnesota President Eric Kaler announced that Michael Goh will take over as its new vice president for equity and diversity Thursday. 

Kaler announced the decision through an email statement to the University community after Goh was announced as one of two finalists for the position earlier this month following a four-month search process.

“I am confident that Michael will continue to foster and champion a systemwide University community that values and actively supports equity, diversity, and inclusion,” Kaler said in the statement. 

Goh has spent much of his career at the University, focusing on counseling, psychology and education development. He’s held the interim position for the past year after former VP Katrice Albert left the University last September.

Pending regent approval, Goh will officially take over the position on Monday, according to the email statement.
