Junior shortstop Michael Handel was named the Big Ten Player of the Week on Monday.

Handel went 2-for-5, scoring a run and driving in another in Minnesota's 5-3 win over North Dakota State on Wednesday. This weekend, he hit 4-for-8 with two runs scored and five runs batted in. He hit a home run in Friday's win over Iowa.

This was the first time he has been given this honor.
