Minneapolis police are investigating a “suspicious death” after finding a body blocks off the University of Minnesota’s West Bank campus early Wednesday morning, according to a news release.
Police responded to a call just before 2:45 a.m. Wednesday and found a dead man on the 1600 block of South Sixth Street, the release said. The historic Riverside Plaza apartment complex is located on the same block.
No bullet or stab wounds were found on the man’s body, said Minneapolis Police Department spokesman John Elder, which is why authorities consider the death to be suspicious. Among other tests, the medical examiner will run a toxicology screening to determine an official cause of death, Elder said.
Further details regarding the investigation are unknown at this point, but the release said the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s office will release the man’s name and the nature and cause of his death.
