A Madison, Wis. man was sentenced Tuesday for a drunken car crash last fall that killed three students, including two University of Minnesota cheerleading recruits.
Bradley Erickson, 32, will serve 13 years in prison and 15 years of extended supervision, a Dane County Court judge ruled.
Two University Spirit Squad recruits, Marcus Johnson, 19, and Wilfredo Ugarte, 23, were killed when Erickson crashed into their stalled vehicle parked on an interstate median shoulder in the early morning of Oct. 7, 2010.
Twenty year old Elysia Rapp, of Racine, Wis., who attended Century College, also died in the crash.
A fourth person in the group was also injured, according to a Wisconsin State Patrol report.
Erikson pleaded no contest to three counts of drunken homicide and an extra felony charge for the forth injured victim in August. The maximum sentence could have been up to 78 years in prison.
Sentencing was originally scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Tuesday morning, but was in progress throughout the afternoon.
