Well, hope you’re having a wonderful weekend and have dropped in for some quick digest on some University of Minnesota news. *The Board of Regents approval of the state budget request from President Bob Bruininks is still a hot topic. The Star Tribune posted a story on the approval today, reporting that the request is likely to be a tough sell because of the struggling economy and state budget deficit projected at least $2 billion. The request would ad $141 million to the $1.5 billion the state already gives to the University. In both the Daily and the Star Tribune reports, some regents admitted that now isn’t the best time to ask taxpayers and students to pay a bigger bill, but approved it unanimously anyway. In lighter news, the School of Music is sponsoring a College Concert today at 7:30, which is free to the public. And if that doesn’t meet your fancy, check out the Super Costume Contest at Coffman at 10 p.m. tonight. A person with the best costume wins a prize. That’s it for Saturday, we’ll see you back tomorrow.
