The Gophers are in fifth place in the team standings out of
thirteen teams through the first day of the Inverness Intercollegiate
tournament in Toledo, Ohio.
Freshman Thomas Longbella finished the day in a three-way tie for
16th place. He fired a 74 in the first round, and improved five strokes to
shoot a 69 in the second round for a two round total of 143, one-over-par.
Junior Runar Arnorsson finished close behind Longbella in a
four-way tie for 22nd place. His day was quite consistent and he scored a 72
and a 73 in rounds one and two respectively, a total of three over par.
The Gophers finished with a two round total of 583, 15-over-par,
while the day’s team leader, Duke, finished ten under.
Minnesota resumes play tomorrow, and looks to climb the rankings
and take the tournament championship.
