Sophomore forward Jerrid Reinholz is expected to only miss this weekend’s series at Minnesota State, Mankato, after suffering a fractured jaw against Alabama-Huntsville last Saturday night.
Reinholz will have his fracture fixated in a surgical procedure which will be performed by Dr. David Hamlar at Fairview University Hospital on Saturday.
Reinholz, a transfer from Minnesota-Duluth, will return to practice early next week and is expected to be available for the series with Colorado College, Nov. 15-16.
Men’s gymnastics
innesota’s men’s gymnastics team is ranked eighth in the 2003 GymInfo/NCAA Pre-Season Coaches Poll. The Big Ten has six of the top eight teams in the poll including Ohio State, winner of the last two Big Ten championships and the 2001 national title.
The Gophers return 11 letterwinners and two All-Americans from last season. Minnesota will open the regular season at the Windy City Invitational on Jan. 11.
Men’s cross country
innesota’s men’s cross country team slipped to No. 24 in the MONDO poll after a fifth-place finish at the Big Ten championships. The Gophers had been ranked 15th the previous two weeks. Wisconsin was a big beneficiary of its fourth Big Ten title in a row as the Badgers moved up seven spots to No. 4 in the poll.
