A key labor union declined Wednesday to endorse a candidate in the Minnesota gubernatorial race.
Despite the decision, the Minnesota branch of the AFL-CIO, a 300,000 member coalition of local unions, will keep campaigning.
“We’re going to continue to run a strong campaign focused on middle class issues, middle class values,” spokesman Chris Shields said.
The organization, made up of roughly 1,000 local unions, will utilize its member base in addition to its political arm, Working America, Shields said.
It is possible the executive board of the organization could vote to endorse a candidate at a later date, Shields said.
“I wouldn’t rule anything out.”
